Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Great day everyone, I'm Royce Lai from Selangor, Malaysia. I would love to share one of my experience with you readers regarding one of the activities arranged by the University especially for us. During one of our early times in Middlesbrough on autumn, we went to one of the biggest outdoor sculpture park in UK, Yorkshire Sculpture Park. In this park displays great works by UK and international artist all over the world.

Upon entering from the main entrance is YSP Centre, inside these centre consists of a small retail, cafe and bathroom for visitors. YSP is divided into different open air zones which consist of Gardens, Hillside, Driveside, Lower Park, Access Sculpture Trail, Lakeside, Country Park, and Longside. Each zone consist of different works and theme, but I will only share some interesting works to everyone.

In the gardens zone, there are basic geometric sculpture lying around. There are other interesting sculpture around the open area, such as the human like sculpture with black skin and white face. Which somehow reminds me of horror movies. =P Some other sculpture with animal feature such as the sexy female bunny sculpture.

And of course, we do enjoy ourselves in the park. Playing, loosen up while enjoying the cool breeze of autumn. There is a musical hut, and this hut plays music, crowd and melody according to our steps inside the hut. It is a great experience to jump around the wooden floor planks making melodies. These are some random shots of us in the park.

Continuing our journey to the south, we walk pass by cascade bridge and find out a bronze man standing up on a tree bark. Passing by the bridge, we are in Longside zone, there is any open field with lots of sheep and cows. At the end of the park are Longside gallery. Well, this is a rough idea of how Yorkshire Sculpture Parks looks like. Do come and visit on weekend or any time you are free.
